What is Rhinoplasty?
Rhinoplasty is a nose reshaping procedure, which can change many aspects of nose appearance like the size, shape, profile, positions of the nostrils. This facial procedure in Poland may also improve some breathing difficulties by the correction of nose asymmetry.
How should I prepare myself for the procedure of Rhinoplasty?
Prior to the procedure, you must quit smoking. Drinking alcohol should also be avoided. You cannot eat or drink starting from the evening before the procedure day. You doctor will advise you which medicines you should stop taking before and after the Rhinoplasty (some of them may increase bleeding).
Is everyone a candidate for Rhinoplasty?
You are a good candidate for Rhinoplasty procedure in Poland if you are unhappy with your nose appearance. Remember, that even small changes may dramatically change your appearance, so you should be sure that you want to have the procedure performed. The age factor is not so important, however, the procedure should not be performed before the growth period is over (after 15 years in case of girls, later in case of boys).
How does the Rhinoplasty look like?
The procedure of Primary Rhinoplasty is performed usually under general anaesthesia, similarly to the Secondary Rhinoplasty, which is very complex. Filler Rhinoplasty can be done under local anesthesia. Then the incisions are made, either inside the nose or outside. The structure of the nose is uncovered and the access for the surgeon is provided to perform any changes. At the end, the incisions are closed.
What are the Rhinoplasty types?
There are a few types of Rhinoplasty available.
- Open Rhinoplasty– it is performed for major reshaping work. The surgeon cuts the vertical strip of skin, which separates nostrils. The nose structure is uncovered so that the surgeon can see everything.
- Closed Rhiniplasty– used for minor reshaping work. Incisions are made inside the nose. Skin and bone are separated so that the bone and the cartilage can be reshaped.
- Secondary Rhinoplasty/ Revision Rhinoplasty– the procedure is performed to correct some problems which happened after the previous surgery. It can be done both as the open or closed Rhinoplasty and usually, the treatment is more difficult than the first procedure.
- Filler Rhinoplasty– during the procedure depressions are filled, angles smoothed, symmetry restored. To perform this, injectable fillers are used, so actually nothing is surgically removed. However, the results are not permanent.
What are the risks of the Rhinoplasty?
There are a few risks involved:
- bleeding
- infection
- breathing problems
- death
Treatment Time:
The treatment time depends on the Rhinoplasty type. Primary Rhinoplasty: 1-3 hours. Secondary Rhinoplasty can last much longer. Filler Rhinoplasty: sometimes can be 15 minutes. Depending on the surgery, you should stay in Poland for a week, you will be asked to stay in the clinic from 1 to 3 days.
After Treatment:
The complete results of Rhinoplasty may be visible even after a year after the procedure (85% of the swelling will go down by a month, the rest may disappear up to a year). Within the first 24 hours it may be hard to breathe because of the swelling. Pain can be eased with painkillers. Upset stomach and bleeding may also occur. The surgeon may advice you to use cold compress to decrease the swelling. You should also take special care not to hurt your nose in any way after the surgery. Blowing your nose is not possible at all.
