Gynecomastia – the word comes from Latin and means male breast enlargement. It may occur on one or both sides. In newborns and boys during adolescence the problem occurs physiologically and there is the hormonal imbalance and temporary advantage of female hormones over the male ones, which results in swelling and tenderness of the breast.
How to overcome gynecomastia problem ?
If this situation continues for too long it leads to the excess of fat and connective tissues. The problem applies to even more than 30% of men and has different intensity. Among adults, male gynecomastia may occur in case of diseases, obesity, and as a result of drug use. In some cases, there is an excessive growth of adipose tissue such as chest, which is somewhat similar to gynecomastia and is often referred to as lipomastia. This is the result of fat redistribution rather than growth of glandular tissue.
How does the procedure look like
Today, the standard for treatment of gynecomastia abroad is a surgery of breast reduction. The type of treatment depends on the ratio of fat to fibrous tissue in the breast. In case when the main component is fat you can try treatment by liposuction or lipolysis. When the breasts are very large, the amount of body fat is low and the main mass forms a compact gland, a surgery should be performed. The gynecomastia surgery in Poland lasts 60-90 minutes and is performed under local or general anaesthesia. Full recovery takes up to a few months, but you can return to your everyday activites after 2 weeks. You should avoid any tiring acitivites and sports for 8 weeks after the surgery.
