Both types of liposuction result in a very satisfying outcome, however, it is important to know all the facts before the surgery, so in this article, you may check what is the difference between those two types of procedures.

What is traditional liposuction and how is it performed?

Liposuction, in general, is a surgery, which the main goal is to remove fat by suction. It allows you to get rid of the excess fat that is highly resistant to reduction by dieting or exercising. The stored fat is permanently removed from under the skin with a special suction device. The fat cells are removed with a tiny cannula (like a straw), which is inserted through small incisions made at the treated site. The cannula is attached to a vacuum device. The surgeon maneuvers it in forward and backward motions breaking up the fat cells and pulling them out of the body by suction. Traditional liposuction is done under general anesthesia and can be performed on every part of the body.

Body jet liposuction (also called water assisted liposuction – WAL) is one of the newest methods of lipo. It is a minimally invasive method, which uses a stream of water to loosen, break up and remove the fat cells. During the body jet liposuction, a thin water beam is used so the fat can be removed by a special cannula. During the liposuction, the water is repeatedly added to help with the fat dislocation process. It is said that while performing this procedure surgeon can see the amounts of fat to be removed more accurately. Body jet liposuction abroad is done under local anesthesia.
